BAE Systems is an integral part of the U.S. Army's Future Combat System (FCS),
Manned Ground Vehicles (MGV) program. This program is for the design of the next generation
of eight (8) tactical and support vehicles to be used by the U.S. Army
which are scheduled to be deployed in 2010. In order to improve manufacturing
and field support costs of the vehicles, common components will be used on all
vehicles. The development of each subsystem is managed by an Integrated Product
Team (IPT) consisting of the U.S. Army, the Lead Systems Integrator (Boeing/SAIC),
BAE Systems, and General Dynamics Land Systems. Go to IPT information for a list and
descriptions.
BAE Systems' procurement objective and initiative for this program
is to continuously solicit and obtain "cutting edge" evolving technology
from industry to ensure that the U.S. Army fields a "state-of-the-art" force.
To accomplish this we will continuously conduct market research, solicit industry
trade study submittals, and seek out and encourage small business participation.
To find out more information regarding the FCS program, please review the various
Industry Briefings given by BAE System at the link provided below or visit the Boeing FCS
web site.

The System Development and Demonstration (SDD) phase of the FCS program has
started. To assist the engineering team in developing the state of the art
design, we are continually releasing Request for Information (RFI) in various
subsystem areas. As the
Technical Specifications for the SDD phase are finalized, we are releasing
SDD Request for Proposals. Solicitations are represented for BAE Systems - Santa Clara,
California site, Ground Systems Division (GSD) and Minneapolis, Minnesota site,
Armament Systems Division (ASD).

BAE Systems was selected by the U.S. Army's Future Combat System (FCS) Lead
System Integrator team of Boeing and Science Applications International Corporation
(SAIC) to fill an additional role on the FCS team in maturing design concepts for
two ARV variants on August 28, 2003.
The Armed Robotic Vehicle (ARV) is an unmanned, 5-ton vehicle controlled remotely by
a dismounted operator or by one located in a Manned Ground Vehicle. The ARV-RSTA variant
will provide Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition for the FCS Units of
Action, while the ARV-Assault variant will provide direct and indirect fires under
remote control in support of mounted and dismounted operations.
In the initial phase, BAE Systems will mature the ARV system concept, conduct
performance modeling and configuration trade studies, and conduct cost as an independent
variable (CAIV) analysis.

v IPT Information
FCS is composed of Integrated Project Teams (IPT). An IPT is when client
and suppliers work together as a team to enhance the whole-life value of a
product while reducing total cost, improving quality, and innovation to deliver
a product far more effectively than in a traditional fragmented relationship that is
often adversarial. Collaborative working is a core requirement for each
element of the FCS project. Putting it into practice through teamworking and
partnering requires real commitment from all parties involved, but brings benefits
that far outweigh the effort involved. Please see the IPT listing and brief
descriptions of the various IPT areas.
v BAE Systems FCS Potential Supplier Profile (being updated)
To be included in the BAE Systems FCS potential supplier database. Please e-mail your company
information and areas of interest to GSDSubK.landa@baesystems.com.
v Supplier Visits To BAE Systems
BAE Systems encourages potential suppliers to contact us regarding presentations of
their company's capabilities. Please see the Supplier Visit Request Form.

The technical data under FCS is protected by ITAR regulations.
Potential Foreign Suppliers are encouraged to contact us to discuss areas of interest so that
the proper export documentation can be put in place. If you are a Potential Foreign Supplier
or not on the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, you will need to notify BAE Systems' POC of your
intent to receive a RFP at a minimum of ten (10) weeks prior to the RFP release date.
Please see the points of contact for various areas within the Subcontracts group.
